Width and Length formatting now syncs with Eniteo
With this release, the width and length format settings in Eniteo will now sync more tightly to the Android Scanning application. For example, if Eniteo is configured to display width and length in “Inches and Decimals,” product and reservation dimensions will also display in inches and decimals in the Scanner.
Setting the Display Formatting
Eniteo has two options for width and length formatting in Application Control (Maintenance > Application Control). The formatting options in Inventory menu set the formatting within Eniteo’s inventory screens. The formatting options in Reporting set the formatting on printed reports, including pick lists and tags.
NOTE: By default, the Android Scanning application will use the formatting set under the Reporting menu. The format selected serves as the default dimension format and is used to display material dimensions across all screens of the barcode scanner application.
An additional setting was added in 13.02 Rev. 19 that can be checked to switch the setting to the formatting option set under Inventory, if that's desired.
Width and Length Formatting
The scanner application will display width and length dimensions according to the formatting option set in Eniteo.
- One-dimensional products display in Feet with either decimals or fractions (unless Inches and Decimals or Inches and Fractions are the formatting options set).
- Two-dimensional or Width-only products (such as Coil) will display in Inches and use either decimals or fractions depending on the formatting option set.
For example, the reservation below shows an order for 13 pieces of a two-dimensional product. Eniteo is set to use “Inches with Decimals” formatting, so the dimensions will be displayed as inches with a decimal: 18.6” Width and 18.6” Length.
Additional Settings that Sync
The Decimals Places settings (located in Maintenance > Application Control > Eniteo Settings) also now control how many decimals will be shown in the scanner for width, length, and weight.
In addition, the Show trailing decimal zeroes for Inches (W/L) setting (located in Eniteo> Maintenance > Application Control > Reporting menu) will control whether trailing zeros display up to the max decimal number set when displaying inches.
Automatic Conversion When Entering Width and Length Values
When using the scanner to cut material, users can input Width and Length values using any of the 5 allowed formats to support convenient entry for users:
- Feet & Inches with Fractions
- Feet & Inches with Decimals
- Feet with Decimals
- Inches with Decimals
- Inches with Fractions
Once entered, all values are automatically converted to the system’s default dimensions format.
To assist users, the scanner displays a default format placeholder as a guide during entry (for example, if the default format is set to Inches with Decimals, the placeholder will show “IN.0”).
This placeholder acts as a guide only—it does not restrict users from entering values in any of other supported formats. Users can also enter values in a different format (e.g., inches with a fraction), and the system will still convert the entry into the default format automatically.
Below is a list of supported entry formats
| Product Type | Format in Eniteo | Supported Entry in Scanner | Examples | After Entry |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Streamlined Flow when Cutting During Picking
With this release, the process to cut material while picking for order lines has been streamlined. To take advantage of these options, ensure that the Always Cut setting is enabled in Eniteo.
Automatic Navigation to Cut Material Screen
When Always Cut is enabled in Eniteo and a user scans a tag (or enters a tag number manually) when picking for Sales Orders, users are automatically taken to the Cut Material screen if:
- The tag is an I-type tag,
- There are no exceptions (i.e., Missing MTR) and,
- The scanned material’s dimensions are longer than the ordered dimensions.
This now also applies to soft reservations in addition to hard reservations.
If, however, any tag dimension (i.e., Width, Length, or both Width and Length) is smaller than ordered, the scanner raises an exception before opening Cut Material screen. Below is an example when the Width dimension is smaller than ordered.
Scanner users can:
- Click OK to proceed, and the system moves to the Cut Material screen.
- Click Cancel to go back and scan another tag.
Multiple Locations
- If a tag is stored in multiple locations, the application prompts the user to choose the location.
- Once a location is selected, the scanner opens the Cut Material screen.
